Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate

Lisa Laur, M.S. Ed, LMHC-A has a lifelong passion for helping others. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology, her master’s in school counseling, and is a Licensed School Counselor. Lisa has over 20 years of experience counseling in rural and urban schools, working with children and families experiencing all sorts of personal, educational, and life challenges. She recently completed graduate level work and testing to earn her Associate License in Mental Health Counseling to be able to help children and adults beyond the walls of the school setting. During this time of transition, Lisa will be supervised by Jennifer Mertz-Turner, MA, LMHC, LCAC, RPT-S.

Lisa’s counseling experience in the schools has allowed her to serve a diverse population with a variety of physical health, mental health, and relationship concerns. She has evidence-based training in emotional regulation, crisis prevention, trauma informed care and education, restorative practices, and suicide prevention. She is a local Sources of Strength trainer and QPR Gatekeeper Instructor.

Lisa married her husband Tim in 2004. They have four children and live on a small farm that some may consider a small zoo with the variety of species. Lisa loves spending time with family and friends, taking walks with the dogs, caring for the other animals, taking boat rides at the lake and driving through the country in the UTV. Lisa enjoys volunteering in the community and has been a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) board member since 2006.
